We provide professional Fountaine Pajot delivery services throughout the South Pacific and New Zealand. This was the fourth time we had delivered this particular vessel, with the delivery beginning in Tahiti and ending in Opua, New Zealand.
For this delivery, we flew to Tahiti specifically to collect the Semana 59 from the owners and take responsibility for the passage back to New Zealand. Having delivered the same vessel three times previously meant we were already familiar with its systems, handling and operating characteristics, making the preparation and handover more straightforward.
The Tahiti to Opua passage is a substantial offshore delivery across the South Pacific. Weather routing and departure timing are important, particularly when selecting a suitable window for the passage south towards New Zealand.
On a Fountaine Pajot, an extended offshore passage requires regular monitoring of the engines, steering, autopilot, rig, sails, batteries, charging systems and navigation equipment. Fuel and water reserves are also managed throughout the passage, with the yacht operated for the conditions rather than simply trying to maintain maximum speed.
Repeat deliveries of the same yacht are particularly useful because the skipper already knows the vessel. Previous experience with its systems and handling means less time is spent learning the boat and more time can be spent preparing it properly for the passage.
