Few yacht deliveries cover as much water as a new production catamaran making its way from the factory in France to the South Pacific. This Fountaine Pajot Tanna was delivered from La Rochelle to Tahiti, a voyage of approximately 11,500 nautical miles and one of the longest deliveries we have undertaken aboard a production cruising catamaran.
Starting on France’s Atlantic coast, the passage involved multiple ocean crossings and several major cruising regions before finally reaching French Polynesia. Deliveries of this scale require a different approach to planning compared with shorter offshore relocations. Weather patterns, seasonal timing, provisioning and logistics all become increasingly important as the voyage extends over several months.
As a brand-new yacht, the delivery also served as an opportunity to thoroughly test and commission the vessel under real offshore conditions. Long passages quickly reveal how systems perform when used continuously, making regular inspections and preventative maintenance an important part of daily operations.
The Fountaine Pajot Tanna proved well suited to the task. Designed for long-distance cruising, the yacht combined comfortable accommodation with solid offshore performance, allowing consistent progress through a wide variety of conditions encountered across three oceans.
