We recently completed a delivery aboard a Maritimo S51 in Auckland as part of an owner relocation and handover program.
The Maritimo S51 is a very capable coastal cruising platform and feels particularly well suited to New Zealand delivery conditions. The enclosed helm design, solid ride quality, and efficient cruising speeds make a noticeable difference once conditions become less comfortable offshore or when running longer distances between ports around the North Island.
Preparation before departure involved the usual systems checks, fuel planning, and passage preparation before moving the vessel through the Auckland region. Coastal deliveries around Auckland can appear straightforward on paper, but traffic density, changing sea state through the gulf areas, and rapidly shifting local weather patterns still require careful planning.
One thing that stood out on the S51 underway was how quiet and comfortable the boat remained at sensible cruising speeds. Fatigue management becomes important on longer motor yacht passages and boats with stable motion and lower onboard noise levels are significantly easier to operate over extended periods.
The Maritimo platform also remains practical from a delivery perspective with straightforward systems access, good visibility, and efficient fuel consumption relative to the size of the vessel.
At Yacht Delivery Solutions, offshore and coastal Maritimo deliveries form a regular part of our relocation work throughout New Zealand.
