25-Metre Circa Marine Yacht Delivery from Marsden Cove to the Gold Coast
This delivery involved relocating a 25-metre Circa Marine vessel from Marsden Cove, New Zealand, to the Gold Coast in Australia. Built in Whangarei, Circa Marine has earned an international reputation for constructing highly capable offshore yachts like the FPB64.
At 25 metres, the scale of the operation differs considerably from a typical yacht delivery. Fuel planning, watchkeeping arrangements, weather routing and vessel management all become more complex as vessel size increases. Despite the larger dimensions, the fundamental objective remained the same: safely relocate the yacht across the Tasman while managing the vessel as efficiently as possible. Preparation is key.
The Tasman Sea is never a route that rewards rushing. Weather systems move quickly across the area and departure timing often has a greater influence on passage comfort than any decision made underway. Careful monitoring of forecast developments before departure allowed us to identify a suitable window for the crossing.
One of the advantages of a purpose-built offshore yacht of this size is its ability to maintain comfortable progress in a wide range of sea conditions. The vessel was designed for serious passagemaking and carried the fuel capacity, systems redundancy and operational capability expected of a yacht intended for extended offshore use.
Throughout the voyage, regular weather analysis remained an important part of daily operations. Conditions in the Tasman can evolve rapidly and routing decisions are often adjusted to take advantage of favourable conditions while avoiding unnecessary exposure to developing systems.
Approaching Australia’s east coast, the final stages of the passage required consideration of coastal traffic, arrival timing and the transition from offshore operations into the busy boating environment of South East Queensland. Arrival on the Gold Coast completed another successful trans-Tasman relocation.
Having delivered several Circa Marine vessels over the years, including multiple FPB expedition yachts, this 25-metre yacht was another example of the capability and offshore focus for which the Whangarei builder has become well known.
