For most owners, the yacht delivery itself is only part of the process. The final stage is the handover, where the vessel is returned to the owner or their representative at the destination.
A professional yacht delivery does not end when the dock lines are secured. A proper handover ensures the owner understands the condition of the vessel, the work completed during the voyage and any observations made by the delivery crew.

Before arrival, the delivery crew begins preparing the vessel for handover.
The yacht is cleaned and organised where practical, loose equipment is secured and documentation relating to the passage is gathered. Any fuel, water or consumable usage is recorded, along with marina receipts and delivery expenses where applicable.
The objective is to leave the vessel in a condition that allows the owner to step aboard and quickly understand the outcome of the delivery.
At the completion of the voyage, owners receive a summary of the delivery.
This typically includes:
Departure and arrival locations
Passage details
Weather encountered
Distance travelled
Fuel consumption where relevant
Vessel observations
Maintenance items identified during the voyage
While many deliveries are completed without incident, offshore passages often reveal small issues that may not be apparent during normal marina use. Reporting these observations allows owners to address maintenance items before they become larger problems.
Where possible, we conduct a handover walkthrough with the owner.
This provides an opportunity to discuss the voyage, explain any operational observations and answer questions about the vessel’s performance during the delivery.
Owners frequently use this opportunity to gain a better understanding of their yacht, particularly when the vessel has recently been purchased or has completed a significant offshore passage.
Throughout the delivery, owners are kept informed through satellite tracking, written reports and direct communication. The handover is simply the final stage of that process.
If repairs, maintenance items or operational decisions occurred during the voyage, these are discussed openly with the owner. Our approach is based on transparency and ensuring owners have a clear understanding of their vessel’s condition on arrival.
The ultimate objective of a professional yacht delivery is simple: the vessel arrives safely, in good condition and ready for its next stage of operation.
Whether the yacht has been relocated to a new home port, delivered following a purchase or repositioned for offshore cruising, a structured handover helps complete the process professionally.
At Yacht Delivery Solutions, we view the handover as an important part of every delivery. It ensures owners receive not only their vessel, but also the information and confidence needed for whatever voyage comes next.
