The Townson 47 is a good example of the practical New Zealand cruising yachts that continue to make up a large part of the local fleet. Many of these boats have changed hands several times, accumulated plenty of miles and remain actively cruised around the country.
Owners often engage a delivery skipper after purchasing a yacht in another region or when time simply doesn’t allow them to complete the passage themselves. For this delivery, we collected the yacht in Auckland and relocated it to Wellington, allowing the owner to take possession of the boat closer to home.
Auckland to Wellington remains one of the more common delivery routes in New Zealand, linking the country’s largest boating centre with the lower North Island. It is a passage many owners intend to do themselves but often struggle to fit around work, weather and family commitments.
