We recently completed another delivery aboard a Seawind 1370 and it reinforced why these boats have become so popular for offshore cruising throughout New Zealand.
The Seawind 1370 feels noticeably more sailing-oriented than many larger cruising catamarans now on the market. Good helm visibility, practical deck layout, manageable sail handling, and relatively lighter displacement all make the boat feel efficient underway without becoming difficult to manage short-handed offshore.
This particular passage involved a mix of coastal and offshore conditions with some typical unsettled sea state during parts of the trip. The 1370 handled it comfortably and maintained good daily runs without needing to push the boat hard.
Systems access is generally straightforward, visibility from the helm positions remains excellent, and the cockpit layout works well offshore compared with some heavily enclosed cruising catamarans.
