This Oceanis 473 was delivered from French Polynesia to Auckland following the end of a South Pacific cruising season.
Many owners choose to use a professional delivery skipper for this route rather than undertake the passage themselves. The delivery involves crossing several weather zones before dealing with the often challenging conditions encountered approaching New Zealand.
The route to New Zealand is one of the more significant offshore passages regularly undertaken by cruising yacht owners. Although the Oceanis 473 is a capable passagemaking yacht, the voyage requires careful weather timing and a crew prepared for an extended period offshore.
