Hallberg-Rassy 53 Delivery from Vuda Point to Opua
This Hallberg-Rassy 53 was delivered from Vuda Point, Fiji, to Opua, New Zealand as part of an owner relocation programme.
As with most passages between Fiji and New Zealand, weather timing was the primary consideration before departure. The route requires careful planning to avoid unfavourable conditions associated with South Pacific weather systems, particularly during the final stages approaching New Zealand.
Prior to leaving Vuda Point we completed our usual delivery preparations, including vessel inspections, safety equipment checks and provisioning for the offshore passage. Once underway, the voyage settled into a routine of watchkeeping, weather monitoring and regular inspections of the yacht’s systems.
Approaching New Zealand, conditions became more variable and routing decisions were reviewed regularly to maintain a comfortable and efficient passage south. The yacht arrived safely in Opua ready for the owner’s next stage of cruising.
The Fiji to New Zealand route remains one of the most common offshore yacht delivery passages in the South Pacific, with vessels regularly relocated between Pacific cruising grounds and New Zealand marinas, refit facilities and owner handover locations.
