Lagoon 410 Delivery from Opua to Noumea

We are experienced Lagoon catamaran delivery skippers with extensive offshore multihull delivery experience throughout New Zealand and offshore.

The route from Opua to Noumea is one of the most common offshore passages for yachts leaving New Zealand and heading into the South Pacific. This Lagoon 410 was relocated to New Caledonia as part of a seasonal move into warmer cruising waters.

The Lagoon 410 remains a popular cruising catamaran and is well proven on Pacific routes. With generous accommodation, good storage capacity and straightforward systems, the model has become a common choice for owners planning extended cruising throughout the islands.

For this Lagoon delivery, weather timing was the primary consideration. Departures from New Zealand require careful planning, particularly during the first few days offshore when yachts are transitioning from New Zealand’s coastal weather patterns into the trade wind systems further north.

Once underway, the Lagoon settled into a comfortable offshore routine. Daily weather updates, sail management and regular vessel inspections formed the basis of operations as the yacht made its way towards New Caledonia.

The passage to Noumea is often used by owners beginning wider Pacific cruising plans, with New Caledonia providing an attractive first destination before continuing on to Vanuatu, Fiji or other island groups. As a result, it remains a route we regularly encounter during South Pacific yacht deliveries.

The Lagoon 410 performed well throughout the crossing and arrived safely in Noumea ready for its next stage of cruising. Deliveries between New Zealand and New Caledonia continue to be an important part of Pacific yacht relocation work and remain among the most popular offshore routes in the region.
