This Leopard delivery was the second Leopard 44 we delivered to the islands during the year, highlighting just how popular these catamarans remain for extended Pacific cruising.
This delivery marked our second Leopard 44 relocation to the islands during the year. It is not unusual to see multiple examples of the same model moving through the South Pacific cruising circuit, and the Leopard 44 continues to be one of the most common cruising catamarans encountered throughout the region.
Being professional delivery skippers for Leopard catamaran we were familiar with the model’s layout, systems and offshore characteristics before stepping aboard. That familiarity is always useful during preparation and allows more attention to be focused on routing, provisioning and passage management rather than learning the vessel itself.
The Leopard 44 has built a strong reputation among cruising owners for good reason. The design offers practical accommodation, substantial storage capacity and straightforward systems access, all of which become important during longer offshore passages. These are features that owners appreciate, but they are equally valuable from a delivery perspective.
Once underway, the yacht settled into a comfortable offshore routine. Watchkeeping, sail management and regular system inspections formed the backbone of daily operations. The Leopard 44 maintained steady passage speeds while remaining comfortable for the crew, which is one reason these catamarans have become such popular choices for long-distance cruising programmes.
The delivery also reinforced how common the Leopard 44 remains within the Pacific cruising fleet. Even as newer models enter the market, these boats continue to undertake substantial offshore voyages between New Zealand, Australia and the island groups throughout the South Pacific.
This second Leopard 44 delivery of the year was another successful relocation to the islands and further demonstrated why the model remains a practical and capable platform for owners planning extended offshore cruising.
