Leopard 44

This Leopard 44 was delivered from Fiji to New Zealand, another example of a model we have worked with multiple times throughout the South Pacific.

Leopard 44 Delivery from Fiji to New Zealand

We are experienced Leopard delivery skippers with extensive offshore experience handling catamarans throughout NZ and offshore.

The Leopard 44 remains one of the most common cruising catamarans operating throughout the Pacific, and this delivery marked another passage aboard a model we have become very familiar with over the years.

The route from Fiji to New Zealand is a seasonal migration undertaken by many cruising yachts. As the cyclone season approaches, vessels often relocate south to New Zealand for maintenance, storage or owner travel plans before returning to the islands the following year.

For any Fiji to New Zealand yacht delivery, weather routing is the primary consideration. The passage involves leaving the trade wind belt and moving into the more active weather systems found further south. Selecting the right departure window can make a significant difference to both comfort and passage times.

The Leopard 44 once again proved itself to be a capable offshore cruising catamaran. The model offers a practical balance between accommodation, storage and sailing performance, making it well suited to longer offshore passages between Pacific cruising grounds.

Once underway, the voyage settled into a routine of watchkeeping, sail management and regular weather updates. As conditions gradually changed approaching New Zealand, routing decisions focused on maintaining efficient progress while positioning the yacht favourably for arrival.

The yacht arrived safely in New Zealand after another successful South Pacific crossing. Having delivered several Leopard catamarans on a variety of routes, this Fiji to New Zealand passage further reinforced why the Leopard 44 remains such a popular choice among long-distance cruising owners.
